Information on the Committee's Work
METU Alumni Association extends a helping hand by providing scholarships to METU students from the Scholarship Fund, which was created with the donations of our members and volunteers. As the Board of Directors, we consider the Scholarship Fund to be one of the most important works of our Association in the field of social responsibility, and our most important goal in the 2021–2023 working period has been to restructure the Scholarship Fund after the pandemic and increase the number of students.
In our association, the provision of scholarships to METU students in need of financial support and the fulfillment of their accommodation and assistance needs are carried out in accordance with the principles of the Scholarship and Aid Regulations through the Scholarship and Aid Committee established within the association.
Many events have been planned and carried out with our student friends in the 2021-2023 Term. Some of these can be listed as Film screenings, Grass Amphitheatre events, Sunday chats, Choir events, Cup final event, MÇG events and Charity events.
Our Sunday Meetings, which we initiated due to the lack of food in the METU cafeteria on weekends and also to strengthen the relations between alumni and students, have turned into an event that will support the food needs of students living in dormitories, and have received both support and gratitude.
After the earthquake centered in KahramanmaraÅŸ on February 6, 2023, an intensive solidarity effort was organized with the call of our Association and the dedication of METU students, graduates and workers. Afterwards, more than 70 METU students are currently benefiting from the Earthquake Support Scholarship Fund that we opened for METU students affected by the earthquake, and our applications are still ongoing.
Finally, our members who could not participate in the Antalya Marathon, MÇG and around 50 of our Scholarship friends organized a Solidarity Run in Eymir on March 5, 2023. After the event, in which other running groups from Ankara also participated, we came together for breakfast with our students who participated in our Association.
